I grew up in Massachusetts and moved to Indiana in 2007 to pursue my graduate degree in analytical chemistry. My thesis focuses on the study of noncovalent complexes from small to large systems with ion mobility mass spectrometry.

Outside of chemistry, I try to live an active lifestyle and am always trying something new. Currently, I am learning Middle Eastern dance and have expanded my yoga practice to include Bikram yoga. I also love to travel!!! My personal goal is to visit one new place every year. The last crazy thing I have done was go on a Wild Cave tour at Mammoth Cave.

Outside of chemistry, I enjoy hiking with my dog, playing basketball and softball, and jet skiing. The latest adventurous things I have done was go on a Wild Cave tour at Mammoth Cave.

Zhiyu Li received her Bachelor of Science degree from Peking University in Beijing, China before coming to Indiana University in 2007. Her research involves analysis of petroleomic samples, polyaromatic hydrocarbons and polymers using ion mobility spectrometry.

She likes to read novels, watch movies in her spare time. Jogging and Yoga are her favorite sports.

I earned my B.S. in Chemistry from Wittenberg University in 2008 and joined the Clemmer Lab at IU that fall. In pursuing a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, my areas of research include peptide and protein structure analysis by novel IMS�MS techniques, and applications of high-resolution IMS in areas of life science and disease research.

Outside of lab, I enjoy swimming, hiking, cooking and reading.

I got my B.S. degree in Chemistry from Nanjing University in China and then I came to IU in 2008. My research is focused on the characterization of protein structures and stabilities with ion mobility spectrometry coupled with mass spectrometry (IMS–MS) and IMS–IMS–MS techniques. My studies involve the determination of populations of protein solution states by examining IMS distributions obtained from different solutions.

In my spare time, I like travelling, yoga, and cooking.

My research efforts are focused on the development and application of high-throughput IMS techniques to disease phenotype delineation. One of my specific aims is to probe the gas-phase structures of N-linked glycan ions and correlate structural differences to disease states.

Besides research I enjoy long walks, yoga and baking.

Fei is basically an indoor girl. She likes reading books or watching movies at home. Shopping is one of her favorite hobbies; she treats it more as a way of body exercise than the need of buying goods. She likes gourmet food and is passionate in making and tasting various kinds of food. Once in a while she would like to go outside and have fun too. One of her goals before getting old is to save enough money to travel throughout the world.

Steven joined the Clemmer group in the summer of 2009. His research interests focus on the development of novel instrumentation and techniques. Steven has previously coupled a low pressure ion mobility drift tube and vacuum ultraviolet laser to a modified commercial ion trap which is currently being used for the structural analysis of complex mixtures. His work also focuses on instrumental and theoretical developments of overtone mobility spectrometry.

While not working in the laboratory, Steven enjoys spending time outside. Depending on the season, he can be found hiking, fishing, or skiing. On the average day, he likes to spend his time reading and cooking.

My hobbies are politics, computers, writing, reading, and learning. My activities of choice are running, biking, hiking, camping, backpacking, and kayaking.

I am originally from Hobart, IN. I received my B.A. (magna cum laude) in chemistry from Franklin College (Franklin, IN) in 2008. My research interests include ion mobility instrumentation, non-covalent interactions in the gas phase, and fragmentation of biomolecules.

While not in the lab, I can be found running (preferably on a trail), enjoying the outdoors, and supporting IU basketball.

Chris began his PhD at IU in 2011. Research focuses on development of instrumentation, kinetics of large molecules and the study of metal-containing peptides in the gas phase.

Hobbies include gaming, various intramural sports and [getting better at] cooking.

Jason began his PhD at IU-Bloomington (IUB) in 2011. His hobbies include reading, running, cooking, and spending time with his wife, often seeing operas held by the IUB music department together. The Count of Monte Cristo is his favorite novel and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead is his favorite play. Jason is currently training to complete a marathon and wants to compete in a Half Ironman triathlon. He strongly believes in the importance of people.

Jason has many research interests, including the development of new IMS instrumentation, the study of large protein complexes, and anything involving the use of lasers.

Jieun earned her BS in Chemistry and MS in Bio-Organic Chemsitry from SungKyunKwan University in Korea. She then went on to earn her doctorate in Analytical Chemistry from Konstanz University in Germany. She is now a post-doctoral fellow at IU with a focus on the design and synthesis of lysine-linked ubiquitin conjugates as well as the structural characterization of these polyubiquitin chains by IMS and mass spectrometry.
